The PosiTector SHD Shore Hardness Durometer is a hand held electronic gauge that measures the indentation hardness of non-metallic materials such as polymers, elastomers and rubbers. In the corrosion industry, durometers are commonly used to ensure proper curing of pipeline repair wraps. Ref: Pencil Hardness
This is a very simple and effective way of testing the resistance of a coating to scratching. The pencil is mounted in a carrier of pre-determined weight (dependant on model ordered) to ensure a standard pressure is applied to the pencil as it travels across the coating. A visual assessment is then carried out to determine the damage and subsequently hardness of the coating.Supplied as standard: a selection of 12 pencils of differing hardness, pencil holder, Calibration certificate, abrasive paper 400 grade grit & spirit bubble all supplied in carry case.
